A new chapter in Tajikistan’s agribusiness story has begun. Three of Konibodom and Isfara’s foremost dried fruit producers – Mevai Kand, Kand K, and Zardolui Isfara have all achieved the FSSC 22000 Food Safety System Certification, marking a major leap forward for the countrys food industry and export potential.

The certifications were supported by the International Trade Centres (ITC) Trade Promotion East (TPE) project, funded by the Government of Switzerland. TPE has been working closely with Tajik enterprises to strengthen competitiveness, ensure compliance with international standards, and open doors to high-value global markets. The audit has been conducted by IMS INTERNATIONAL GmbH and the certificates issued by TÜV CYPRUS (TÜV NORD GROUP).

FSSC 22000, one of the worlds widely recognized food safety management systems, is accredited by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). The certification ensures that companies meet the strictest international requirements for hygiene, traceability, and risk management, all essential for gaining the confidence of global buyers and entering premium markets.

‘Achieving FSSC 22000 certification is a remarkable milestone for Tajikistans entire agri-food sector,’ said Saidmumin Kamolov, ITC National Programme Manager. ‘It shows that our producers can meet world-class standards and deliver products that are safe, high-quality, and competitive on the international stage. This is a proud moment for the countrys growing reputation as a trusted source of dried fruits.’

Mr. Ghulomjon Ismoilov, Director of Mevai Kand LLC added, ‘Securing this certification is a turning point for our company. It validates the hard work of our team and strengthens our confidence to reach international markets. We are excited to continue improving our processes and look forward to new opportunities ahead.’

Isfara and Konibodom, nestled in the fertile Sughd province, are known as the heart of Tajikistans apricot industry. Nearly ten percent of the worlds apricot production originates in this region, where generations of farmers and processors have cultivated, dried, and exported the fruit that has become synonymous with Tajik craftsmanship.

With these certifications in place, the Tajik companies are positioned to strengthen international partnerships and enhance the visibility of Made in Tajikistan dried fruits around the world.

Looking ahead, TPE will continue to support these and other Tajik companies in obtaining relevant international certifications, helping the countrys agribusinesses meet global standards and expand into high-value markets.
